“I will extol You, my God, O King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable.” – Psalm 145:1-3
Everyone is excited about something. Maybe its our favorite football team or our favorite restaurant. I think we would all agree that people can be quite fanatical. But what is a "fan?" A "fan" is someone who is extreme about whatever it is he or she likes or enjoys. This word can also describe someone who is uncompromising, unwavering and even unwilling to change his or her ways or opinions. Pray that you would begin to have an uncompromising and unwavering passion for God and the things He loves. Pray that you would be a fanatic for the things of God. This can only be done, though, if He is "your God." Is He your God? According to the statistics, more than 90% of the people in the cities we serve do not have a relationship with Jesus. Boulder City and the Las Vegas valley are in desperate need of a great awakening. This can be accomplished as the people of God trust in and follow God.
First, pray for your heart to be changed to desire to follow Jesus more closely than ever before. Second, pray and ask God to awaken us as a church to be sensitive to the needs of others and especially their need for salvation. And finally, pray for our community. Pray that God would give each of us new influence in the lives of the people of Boulder City and the Las Vegas valley and that He would, in turn, awaken the hearts of those far from Him and save them. As a side note, a fan always creates in others a hunger for the passion he or she possesses as well. Are you a fanatic when it comes to the things of God more than you are for other things? Your relationship with God will affect how others view God! Can you say today, "I will extol you, my God, O King?" His greatness is unsearchable!
